Portware, a trading technology provider, has connected to Chi-X Canada, an alternative trading system for stocks listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The link will enable users of Portware’s execution management system to access and execute trades on Chi-X Canada.

“In order to achieve maximum trading efficiencies and ensure best execution, firms must be able to access all liquidity sources from a single, flexible trading platform,” said Eric Goldberg, CEO, Portware, in a statement.

Chi-X Canada executes orders according to price-time priority and allows participants to route orders on to any displayed equities marketplace in Canada.

“We believe that traders should have the ability to effectively access all available liquidity and control how and where they execute,” added Tal Cohen, CEO, Chi-X Canada. “As such, we are committed to being open and accessible to the vendor community, and are pleased that Portware customers will now be able to access Chi-X Canada.”

Portware’s multi-asset execution management system has over 400 connections to broker algorithms, alternative venues, crossing networks and exchanges globally.

Chi-X Canada, which started trading in February 2008, is one of a range of trading platforms operated by Chi-X Global, a subsidiary of agency broker Instinet.
