RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has added three directors to its global equities team in Europe.

Matthew Penton, who joins as a director covering the industrial sector, has 25 years' experience and was most recently at Nomura, where he held various positions covering the TMT and auto and aerospace sector.

Daniele Calabrese, appointed director and sales trader covering Italian accounts, has 14 years of pan-European equity sales experience, including stints at Bear Stearns and, most recently, RBS/ABN Amro.

Hugh Kingsmill Moore joins RBC Capital Markets as director and strategist covering the renewables and utilities sector. Kingsmill Moore was most recently at Nomura Code Securities, where he was head of equity sales, and previously held positions at ING Barings, Greig Middleton and Nomura International.

All three report to Mark Sartori, head of European trading and sales trading, who joined RBC Capital Markets in November 2010 to lead the expansion of the bank's equity trading capabilities.

“In the last few months, we have been steadily adding top talent across our equities platform, extending our reach to more sectors and new regions,” said Nick Fothergill, head of European equities, RBC Capital Markets. “These three new hires are part of a wider drive to build a significant platform in Europe. We have doubled the size of our European equities platform since September 2010, and expect to see further growth in 2011.”
