SIX hires from within for new head of clearing

Appointment comes as the firm continues its path toward its “future pan-European, interoperable and multi-asset CCP”.

SIX has named Michael Gort head of clearing, set to oversee the development and ongoing “transformation” of the business.

Gort joined SIX in 2017 and has worked in various senior roles across the clearing business, including senior product manager, head of product and business development for clearing products.

Over the years, he has played a key role in shaping and driving our clearing strategy […] His leadership, industry knowledge and client-focused mindset will be key as we continue to develop and strengthen our clearing business,” said SIX in an official announcement.

SIX is continuing the transformation of its clearing business as part of its “future pan-European, interoperable and multi-asset CCP”.

Last October, SIX appointed Aquis Technologies as the technology provider for its harmonised trading platform.  The new system is aimed at bringing together all exchanges operated by the group, including SIX Swiss Exchange and Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), onto a shared infrastructure.
