Smart Trade Technologies, a trading systems provider, has hired Neil James to the newly-created position of vice-president, sales and business development, UK to lead the firm’s expansion in the UK.

In his new position, James will help banks, brokers, asset management firms and exchanges implement smart order routing and crossing into their trading and market-making infrastructures. He will be based in Smart Trade’s new London office and report to Harry Gozlan, the firm’s founder and CEO.

James previously worked at trading technology firm GL TRADE, recently bought by Sungard, as senior sales account manager for the Nordic and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. He also spent seven years at the International Capital Markets Association and has held business development positions at technology firms Logica and Intech Solutions.

“Neil has solid record of growth with tier 1 and 2 level investment banks and securities firms dealing with equities, derivatives, FX and fixed income trading, which makes him a strong addition to our sales group in Europe,” said Gozlan in a statement. “His technical and trading knowledge and background in building and managing relationships with clients will prove to be an asset in our effort to expand our presence in London, matching 2008 growth in France, the US and Canada.”
