Fekih confirmed the move in an announcement on social media.
The hire comes against a backdrop of other appointments within HSBC’s FX trading business, with the bank last week promoting Tom Zhang to head of Asia FX trading for the Americas.
The New York-based trader joined HSBC in 2022 as an EMFX Asia trader and later became a director. Previously, he spent seven years at Barclays.
HSBC had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.
