State Street IM hires from HKEX for new APAC, Middle East and Africa ETF capital markets head

The move marks a return to the buy-side firm for new hire, who previously spent five years at State Street Investment Management in various senior ETF-related roles.  

State Street Investment Management has appointed a new head of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa ETF capital markets. 

Jean-François Mesnard-Sense rejoins the firm after a three year-stint at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX).  

Hong Kong-based Mesnard-Sense spent three years at HKEX as head of exchange traded products (ETPs), where he supported the growth and innovation of Hong Kong’s ETP market.  

He has worked extensively across ETFs over the course of his career, and previously spent five years at State Street Investment Management, where he served as an ETF capital markets specialist, before later being promoted to head of ETF capital markets for APAC.

Mesnard-Sense also worked across ETF markets for three years at Deutsche Bank in London, with a particular focus on EMEA.  

Earlier in his career, he served as a portfolio manager assistant at Societe Generale.  

State Street Investment Management had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.  

Most recently, State Street Investment Management made an addition to its trading desk, appointing Jack Kelly as an assistant vice president, fixed income trader.  

Kelly, who is based in Boston, joined the firm after nearly four years at investment manager Victory Capital, where he served as a multi-asset trader.
