NYSE Euronext starts trading as merged entity

Shares in NYSE Euronext, the holding company created by the merger of the New York Stock Exchange and European stock exchange Euronext, started trading today in Paris and New York under the ticker symbol NYX.

Four-party cooperation agreement signed in Tianjin

Four partners have agreed to provide a framework to internationalise the German and Chinese financial markets. Tianjin Property Rights Exchange (TPRE), State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of Tianjin Municipal People’s Government, the German Agency for Technical Co-operation (GTZ) and Deutsche Börse Group signed a four-party Co-operation Term Sheet (CTS) on Tuesday in Tianjin.

AQ launches web-based investment research exchange

A new web-based investment research exchange launches this week in London with the aim of facilitating improved research procurement between brokers and fund management groups. It may also increase liquidity among small-cap. stocks listed on the LSE’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

New IMEX energy derivatives exchange in Qatar on course to open by year-end

The IMEX energy exchange in Qatar is set to go live by the end of this year. International Mercantile Exchange Holdings L.L.C, the promoters of the energy exchange, say that the trading platform is seeking approval from the Qatar Financial Center Regulatory Authority, which is developing the regulatory framework for the exchange.

London small-cap. platform PLUS Markets capitalises at £150 billion

PLUS Markets, the small-cap. trading platform turned around by executives from the AIM market run by the London Stock Exchange, says February saw its highest trading volumes yet since it launched its extended offering in December 2005.  February saw 71,607 trades, valued at £421 million, representing a volume of 645 million shares traded on the PLUS platform.

London Stock Exchange reports record trading on SETS

Trading on SETS, the London Stock Exchange's order book, reached record levels during February 2007. The average daily number of trades on SETS increased 55 per cent in February to a record 413,506, while the average daily value traded was up 28 per cent to £7.46 billion. The total number of SETS trades during the month was 8.3 million and the total value traded was £149.1 billion.

TSX and ISE to invest C$25 million in a new Canadian derivatives exchange called DEX

The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX Group) and the International Securities Exchange (ISE) are to create a new derivatives exchange called DEX. It will be launched in March 2009. DEX will be owned 52% by TSX Group and 48% by ISE and will list and trade options, futures and options on futures on a range of Canadian securities. DEX will pair TSX's position as the leading Canadian market for Canadian securities together with ISE's superior derivatives trading platform, including OMX's trade match engine and ISE's complementary suite of technology. With a distinct order book and trading rules, TSX says DEX will complement its other exchanges to provide investors with a full set of trading products and strategies.
