The TRADE is delighted to announce that experienced financial journalist and senior editor, Laurie McAughtry, has joined the publication as its new managing editor.
Boasting 15 years of editorial, journalism and analyst experience, McAughtry joins The TRADE to head up its range of channels including digital, print, multimedia, events and research.
Her most recent role was lead finance editor at Trading View.
McAughtry’s other positions have included managing editor of ESG and sustainable investing media outlet Ethical Intelligence, senior editor in charge of RegTech at A-Team Group and group managing editor at emerging markets specialist REDmoney Group.
During her seven-year tenure at REDmoney Group, McAughtry operated in both Kuala Lumper and Dubai: heading editorial and managing a team across a diverse stable of publishing products and promoting the brand through a wide range of in-house and third-party events for international regulators, central banks, and supervisory authorities.
She holds a BA, English Literature & Language from Balliol College, University of Oxford; a diploma in Finance & Economics from Columbia University, New York; and an MA in Publishing from Oxford Brookes University.
“The TRADE is one of the most respected publications in its field, and I’m thrilled to be joining such a dedicated and inspirational team during this unique period of growth and transition for the global trading community,” said McAughtry. “There are so many exciting opportunities ahead, and we are very much looking forward to expanding our exceptional offering even further in 2022.”
McAughtry joins The TRADE following a record-setting year where the publication’s web traffic hit nearly 3.5 million views, while attendance at the annual Leaders in Trading awards was the highest in the brand’s history. We also launched our first ever digital experience in the first half of the year – LiTDX, and released a series of documentaries – including Battle for the Trading Desk, a widely commended overview on the world of outsourced trading.
“We’re delighted to welcome Laurie to the team at an exciting time of growth for The TRADE,” said Jonathan Watkins, publisher of The TRADE. “Laurie’s experience in financial services publishing and leadership skills are a perfect combination for the publication, and we’re incredibly excited for the future with such a talented individual at the helm, alongside our growing team of journalists as we continue to expand our offerings across digital, print and events.”
McAughtry takes over the role following the departure of Hayley McDowell last year. She will lead a team consisting of senior reporter, Annabel Smith; multimedia editor, Kiays Khalil; and editorial assistant, Wesley Bray. Will Canny also continues to operate as a freelance contributor for The TRADE.
