Tora Trading Services, an electronic trading solutions provider for Asia, has appointed Peter Lewis as managing director of Tora’s New York office.

Lewis will lead the team who manage the TORA Trading Platform for US-based buy-side firms. The platform provides DMA access in 24 markets through 75 brokers, and over 150 algorithmic trading strategies.

Lewis joins Tora after a 22-year career at Citi Global Markets. During his time at Citi, he founded and managed the New York desk for international equity program trading, co-managed the US alternative execution group, and served as a managing director of electronic execution sales.

“Peter is an experienced and accomplished international equities trading executive who perfectly complements our management teams in San Francisco, Tokyo and Hong Kong and brings to Tora exactly the kind of business acumen we need to serve our growing New York and North American client base,” said Robert Dykes, Tora Trading Services CEO, in a statement. “Peter’s deep knowledge of electronic and algorithmic trading of international equities and derivatives is a perfect fit for Tora’s needs.”

“The major Asian markets are now collectively larger than Nasdaq in trading volume,” added Lewis. “I look forward to working with the US buy-side community to gain access to the same edge that over 45 Asia based buy-side firms currently enjoy by using the TORA Trading Platform for their trading operations.”
