Olivetree, a UK-based agency broker specialising in equities trading, has appointed Jim Cirenza as CEO of its US subsidiary, Olivetree USA, to expand the broker’s business in the country.

Cirenza has more than 25 years of international experience and extensive contacts across the UK, Europe and the US. Before joining Olivetree, he was global head of equity and fixed income securities at Carnegie Investment Bank for eight years, five of those as head of the company’s New York office.

He was previously head of European sales trading in the US at J.P. Morgan and has held a number of other senior positions including head of international sales trading in the US at Barclays Bank BZW and head of international equities in the US at NatWest Markets.

Cirenza started his career at Goldman Sachs, where he spent over 12 years building up its international equities sales team in the US.

“Jim will play a crucial role in expanding our reach to the US, a region we believe is essential for our long-term success,” said Daryn Kutner, Olivetree’s CEO and founder, in a statement. “Jim brings a proven track record of building new businesses, developing talented teams of professionals and delivering positive revenue growth. We will benefit from his wealth and breadth of experience in equities and fixed income as well as leveraging his management and strategic planning expertise.”

Cirenza added, “I am excited to join an entrepreneurial group of professionals, at an early stage of the company’s development, whose sole focus is providing a unique client service.”

Olivetree Securities was founded by Kutner, formally of Morgan Stanley, in 2009. The firm combines high-touch agency execution services with stock analysis to produce trade ideas for institutional clients.
