Jefferies appoints former Barclays director as Switzerland head of fixed income

Individual has also previously worked at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank.

Former Barclays executive director, Michael Georgis, has joined Jefferies as managing director, head of fixed income, Switzerland.

Georgis joins the sell-side firm from Barclays Investment Bank, where he had been since July 2025. In his new role he will be based out of Zurich. Prior to this, he spent more than four years at Morgan Stanley, where he served as an executive director in relative value sales and as head of Swiss fixed income.

He also held an executive director position at Goldman Sachs for two years.

Previously in his career, he served as a vice president, covering illiquids and relative value at Deutsche Bank, where he also began his industry career in 2013 as an intern working across global markets, fixed income and equity derivatives.

Georgis’ appointment follows further Jefferies hires in recent months. In September, the firm named former Morgan Stanley European CEEMEA trading co-head, Rafael Madrid as a managing director in emerging markets trading.

Similarly, in May, The TRADE revealed that Vivian Li had joined Jefferies as head of Asia distressed trading and credit analytics, as part of the firm’s effort to bolster its fixed income offering.

Jefferies and Barclays declined to comment when approached by The TRADE.
