Clear Street taps Harding Loevner for new director of outsourced trading

Former senior trader joins the firm as it continues to continue to build out its outsourced trading offering.

Jonathan Mortenson has been named director of outsourced trading at Clear Street. He joins from Harding Loevner where he served for 13 and a half years, most recently as senior trader.

In his most recent role, New Jersey-based Mortenson managed global equity execution, as well as overseeing all algorithmic trading for the firm.

His remit encompassed developed, emerging, and frontier markets, with additional focus on the optimisation of low-touch versus high-touch routing.

Previously in his career, Mortenson has served in senior trading-related roles at firms including: Artio Global, Collins Stewart, and ING.

Clear Street launched its new outsourced trading platform with the addition of a former UBS outsourced trading expert to lead the initiative back in May 2025.

At the time, Morgan Ralph joined the firm as head of outsourced trading to support the firm as it expands its new platform, in a move away from his previous role where he led business development and platform management for UBS’ outsourced trading.

Additionally, last October, Clear Street named Paul Christophorou as head of outsourced trading for Europe, following a three-year tenure at UBS.

Christophorou previously worked as a multi-asset trader at UBS, joining as part of the firm’s expansion of its EMEA outsourced trading offering in 2022, as revealed by The TRADE at the time.

Clear Street declined to comment when contacted by The TRADE.
