People Moves Roundup: Rothschild & Co, JonesTrading, RBC Capital Markets

The past week has seen a spate of moves across the sell-side, including a new global head of equities hire, as well as additions to outsourced and equity sales trading desks.

Rothschild & Co

Rothschild & Co has named Lucy Baldwin as global head of equities, to support the firm’s build-out of its institutional equities franchise.

Baldwin will assume responsibility for Rothschild & Co’s global equities business in her new position, where she will focus on sales and trading, as well as research and corporate access.

Her appointment is also set to bolster the expansion of the firm’s global markets solutions (GMS) platform, as well as strengthen connectivity between advisory, capital markets and institutional investor franchises.

Baldwin joins the firm from Citi, where she spent five years as global head of research, based in London.

Prior to this, she also held senior positions at Credit Suisse and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, serving as global head of equity sales, and head of European equity sales respectively.

In addition, she also co-headed European equity research at Goldman Sachs for nine years, and began her industry career as an equity research analyst at Cazenove in 2004.

JonesTrading

Paul Duffy has joined JonesTrading’s outsourced trading desk in New York as a trader and senior vice president.

The appointment marks a return to the firm for Duffy, who originally served in a global outsourced trading role at the firm from 2019 to 2021, before departing for Clear Street.

During his time at Clear Street, Duffy served in a sales and trading-based position for almost five years.

Previously in his career, he also served at investment bank Evercore for three years, working across institutional equities.

Duffy has also worked extensively on the sell-side, serving in trading-based positions at firms spanning GBI, HSBC and Morgan Stanley.

RBC Capital Markets

RBC Capital Markets has expanded its North American equity sales trading desk with the addition of Rory Priestley.

London-based Priestley joins the firm from BNY, where he spent over a year as a senior associate, covering equity sales trading.

Priestley also brings significant buy-side experience to his new position, and prior to his time at BNY, he spent five years at boutique asset manager, Polar Capital.

He initially joined the firm as an operation executive, a role he held for four years before stepping into a more senior position.
