Cantor Fitzgerald hires former Stifel director for emerging markets credit trading role

Individual joins the firm’s fixed income business as the firm continues to build out its trading capabilities; previously served in senior roles at Stifel and T. Rowe Price.

London-based Joe Gilbert has joined Cantor Fitzgerald as director, fixed income, emerging markets credit trading, bringing more than 20 years of experience to the role.

He most recently served as a director at Stifel and previously worked as head of fixed income and FX trading at T. Rowe Price.

Gilbert’s appointment comes against the backdrop of wider changes at Stifel, which confirmed it was shuttering its UK-based equities trading business as the firm shifts its focus toward becoming an advisory-led business in Europe with capital raising capabilities for mid-market issuers.

The firm confirmed at the time that the exit was likely to coincide with potential job cuts, with staff informed of the closure of Stifel’s UK equities trading offering on 1 December 2025, sources close to the matter previously told The TRADE.

Earlier this year, Cantor also bolstered its global equities franchise with a senior hire from Barclays as well as several internal promotions, in a bid to align its sales and trading organisations.

The reshuffle, and this latest appointment, is expected to continue to support the firm in enhancing its insight, execution and connectivity offering for its clients.
