London-based securities exchange SWX Europe has hired Mark Ryland as their chief operating officer. He is due to start at the company, which is owned by the SWX Swiss Exchange, on 21 April.
Ryland was previously global head of equities IT at HSBC, where he led the replacement of HSBC’s equities front-office trading systems. He has also spent three years as global co-head of cash equity systems renovation at Merrill Lynch and has held senior positions at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and UBS.
