Aberdeen’s chief operating officer departs for TP ICAP

Iain Plunkett joined Aberdeen Asset Management in September 2015.

Aberdeen Asset Management’s chief operating officer, Iain Plunkett, has departed the buy-side firm to join interdealer broker TP ICAP.

Plunkett will serve as chief operating officer and become a member of the global executive committee for the inter-dealer broker.

He joined Aberdeen Asset Management in September 2015 and was responsible for operations, sourcing, strategy information security and data for the company.

Plunkett fills the vacant role after ICAP’s COO, Ken Pigaga, refused to join TP ICAP following the merger of the voice brokering business.

Prior to his role at Aberdeen, Plunkett held several senior leadership positions at Barclays and UBS, including head of operations and technology and chief information officer.

He is set to join TP ICAP in the second quarter this year.

Chief executive officer at TP ICAP, John Phizackerley, said Plunkett’s experience in capital markets - particularly in change and transformation projects - make him ideally suited to join the team.

“He will be integral to executing our integration programme over the next three years, and we are looking forward to working with him,” Phizackerley added.
