BAML appoints emerging markets ex-Asia head

Global investment bank Bank of America Merrill Lynch has appointed Bernie Mensah as global head of emerging markets sales and trading for equities and fixed income currencies and commodities, ex-Asia.

Global investment bank Bank of America Merrill Lynch has appointed Bernie Mensah as global head of emerging markets sales and trading for equities and fixed income currencies and commodities, ex-Asia.

Mensah, who joins from Goldman Sachs and has over 17 years trading and investing experience in Asia, will be based in London and will join the global markets leadership team chaired by Tom Montag.

He will also join the emerging markets ex-Asia leadership team, chaired by Andrea Orcel, executive chairman of global banking and markets and president of emerging markets ex-Asia.

Mensah will report to regional global markets management, Graham Goldsmith, global head of global loan and special situations trading and Orcel

“As a company we already have strong momentum across the emerging markets and we see significant opportunities moving forward,” said David Gu, global head of rates and currencies and co-head of EMEA global markets, BAML. “Bernie’s expertise will prove invaluable as we look to capitalise on our sales and trading leadership in this area and strategically develop the business.”
