Barclays EM rates trader swaps to Goldman Sachs

New hire joins the firm in the same position; previous experience includes positions at Soloda Investment Advisors and Morgan Stanley.

Liam Webster has joined Goldman Sachs as an emerging markets rates trader after nearly three years at Barclays.

Webster is based in London and brings more than a decade of industry experience to his new role.

Goldman Sachs declined to comment when contacted by The TRADE.

He served in the same position at Barclays, where his position included trading Polish interest rate products and Polish government bonds.

Prior to this, he worked at Soloda Investment Advisors for a year-long stint, where he served as a junior portfolio manager for the CEEMEA region, across G10 rates and FX.

Webster began his industry career as a securities lending and repo analyst at Morgan Stanley in 2014, before later stepping up as an emerging markets rates trader at the firm – a role he held for almost seven years.

Earlier this month, The TRADE revealed that Goldman Sachs’ head of FX MarketStrats for EMEA, Jonas Schmitten had left the firm after a five-year tenure. His next role is currently unconfirmed.
