Bloomberg is dominating the market data and analytics technology space, according to a benchmark survey of hedge funds and alternative investment managers.

Research from Eze Castle Integration surveyed 538 buy-side firms from the US, UK and Asia, asking which software they use for front-, middle- and back-office functions.

Bloomberg came up top in market data services, with its platform being used by 92% of firms and also dominated market analytics, being preferred by 82% of firms.

In the order management space, EzE Software Group’s Eze OMS led the pack followed by Bloomberg Asset and Investment Manager, Advent’s Moxy and RediPlus EMS.

Advent Software was used by 54% of respondents for portfolio accounting and Global Relay was the most used message archiving provider.

In research and document management, Eze found that the majority of firms are not currently using formal tools. However, adoption rates are growing.

Despite the troubles of its parent company, Blackberry continued to be the top choice for mobile devices, being the top choice for 92% of respondents. However, Apple devices are becoming more popular, with 42% of firms supporting them.
