US agency broker BNY ConvergEx has appointed Thomas Carroll as executive managing director and chief technology officer.

Carroll will have global responsibility for the firm’s technical infrastructure, software development and business processes. He will also have a hand in directing company resources with the aim of accelerating new product development and innovation.

Carroll has over 20 years of financial service information technology experience. His most recent position was at HSBC Bank USA, where he served as managing director and global head of e-markets and client connectivity. In this role, he was responsible for the design and development of HSBC’s global fixed-income electronic trading platform and cross-asset FIX connectivity application. He has also held similar positions with Fidelity Investments, Lehman Brothers and Salomon Brothers.
