Citi names former Goldman Sachs managing director as global head of prime sales

New head joins from Hound Partners where he served as COO and before that, spent 25 years at Goldman Sachs.

Citi has appointed Tom Lynch, formerly of Goldman Sachs, as its new global head of prime sales.

Lynch joins Citi from Hound Partners, where he has spent the past two years serving as chief operating officer.

Prior to that, he spent 25 years at Goldman Sachs, leading various teams across prime services sales, capital introduction and capital raising.

Based in New York, Lynch will report directly to Fater Belbachir, global head of equities at Citi.

Lynch’s appointment follows that of Sebastien Mailleux and Tim Tomalin-Reeves, who were appointed as global co-heads of prime services in June this year. The pair will work alongside Lynch to further grow Citi’s prime services offering.

“Tom spent 25 years at Goldman Sachs where he held a number of senior positions within the prime brokerage and capital introductions organisations,” said Belbachir in an internal memo seen by The TRADE.

“This experience, combined with his tenure as a COO at Hound Partners, will bring a wealth of client connectivity and leadership to our equities organisation.”
