Craig Mohan has been appointed managing director for co-location and data centre services by US-based derivatives exchange operator CME Group.

Mohan’s new responsibilities include the strategic development, management and overall execution of CME Group’s co-location and data centre hosting business, including sales, product development and client services.

He joins the derivatives exchange from his role as director of global infrastructure at Citadel Investment Group, where he lead the firm’s data centre and co-location facilities and developed and managed networking, technical architecture and global operations. Mohan previously held technology and operations management positions at ShopperTrak RCT, Accenture and Blue Meteor Inc.

“Craig’s leadership and expertise in technology infrastructure management combined with his deep understanding of financial markets will help further our mission to better support the electronic trading needs of our customers worldwide,” said Julie Holzrichter, managing director of global operations, CME Group.

Mohan will focus on increasing reliability and availability and creating competitive operating costs for clients ahead of the launch CME Group’s co-location services facility in early 2012.

The facility will offer housing of all trade matching engines for all products traded on CME Globex, non-discriminatory and transparent pricing and environmentally green build-out for maximum power and cooling efficiencies.
