CME sets sights on Asia Pacific with new Sydney office

CME Group has opened a new office in Sydney as it grows business in Asia Pacific.

CME Group has opened a new office in Sydney Australia as the exchange operator looks to expand its presence in the Asia Pacific.

The Sydney office will be led by the head of Australia at CME Group, Simon Raybould, who has been promoted to the role having previously been a non-executive director at CME Europe.

Raybould has 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry working in various positions at Barclays, Euronext Liffe and MF Global.

Terry Duffy, chief executive at CME Group, explained continuing the firm’s expansion internationally is key to servicing the needs of its clients.

“Australia is a key international financial centre and commodity hub, and our office here will enable us to deliver our ever-expanding range of risk management solutions to our growing key client segments,” he added.

Including Sydney, CME Group now has offices across seven locations in Asia Pacific with around 300 employees in various roles.
