Iguana2, a market data solutions provider, has launched a market information platform for members of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and the New Zealand Exchange (NSX).

The new desktop application, Spark, will provide ASX and NSX participants with a suite of data tools including real-time market depth, data visualisations, market playback, tick charting, market scanning, company news and data exporting functions.

According to Iguana2, Spark’s playback functions will allow users to test their theories on trading behaviour, and help to identify momentum shifts, dummy orders and the presence of algorithmic orders.

“Trading movements and changes are presented with the intelligent use of animation, colour, transitions, shading and scroll speeds,” said Adam Rands, COO, Iguana2, in a statement. “The use of these elements conveys subtle, yet highly valuable information and enables users to actively monitor more stocks.”

In addition, software vendor GL Trade has signed up the first ASX clients to its application service provider (ASP) service, a new hosted service that provides access to ASX’s equity, equity options, CFDs and commodity futures markets.

GL Trade claims its ASP service will reduce costs and allow the outsourcing of platform implementation and maintenance to GL’s technical experts.

“The merger of ASX futures and cash products on the one platform will provide opportunities for traders and increased scope for distribution by ASX participants,” said Jeremy Johnston, general manager of international sales, ASX.
