Cowen makes senior hires for electronic trading

Hires of former Goldmans and Deutsche traders to boost Cowen’s electronic trading.

US-based broker-dealer Cowen Group has hired a former Goldman Sachs trader to head up its electronic trading business.

Jason Oien joins Cowen as managing director and head of electronic trading services, having previously been responsible for west coast electronic sales and international electronic trading sales at Goldman Sachs.

Oien has also worked for Instinet as an account executive and as a sales trader and market maker for Jefferies.

Cowen has also hired Jennifer Hadiaris as managing director and head of global market structure. Hadiaris joins the company from Deutsche Bank where she led its market structure team in the Americas. Before working at Deutsche she spent 10 years at RBC Capital Markets in a similar role.

Dan Charney, head of Equities at Cowen, said: “Jason and Jennifer play a key role in furthering Cowen’s position as the leading platform for broker-neutral execution solutions. Our priority is to help clients make informed trading decisions by providing value-added tools – such as non-conflicted trading and algorithmic execution – and insights on issues that impact clients.”
