Credit Suisse has appointed a new head of Advanced Execution Services (AES) global sales, replacing electronic trading pioneer Richard Balarkas who announced a surprise move to Instinet Europe last month.

Manny Santayana is to become the new head of AES global sales. He has been head of AES sales for the Americas region since the group was launched in 2002.

Based in New York, Santayana will report to Steve Garnett, managing director and head of the firm's Alternative Execution Product group.

Santayana will focus on leading the AES sales initiatives across Asia, Europe/Middle East and the Americas.

"Santayana's previous success in sales management and his energy make him well-suited to address the global convergence of our clients' multi-asset-class trading needs," remarks Garnett.
