Deutsche Bank and BTIG veteran retires from the industry after over four decades

Departing alumnus had served at SB Warburg for seventeen years, Deutsche Bank Securities for 16 years and BTIG for 10 years.

Industry veteran, Ed Benson, is set to retire at the end of this year after 43 years of service in the markets, The TRADE can reveal.

Benson departs from the industry after most recently spending the last decade at BTIG as a managing director and as its head of European sales trading.

Before joining BTIG in 2012, Benson spent 16 years at Deutsche Bank Securities as head of sales trading for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and another 17 years before that as a managing director at fellow investment bank SG Warburg.

“I have been incredibly privileged to have worked at three amazing investment banks. The people with whom I have worked are all extraordinary individuals and have had a profound impact on my life and to whom I am exceptionally grateful,” Benson said in an update on social media.

“I count myself lucky to have worked during many good years and learnt a huge amount during the tough times that this cyclical business has to offer. So, it’s time to hang up my boots and spend time with my family whose support and love has been a constant during these last 43 years. Time to give something back and to join a couple of charities that will primarily be helping individuals with mental health issues.”
