BNP Paribas has appoined Edmund Shing as a senior proprietary trader in its equities and derivatives
business. Based in Paris, he reports to Fabrice Evangelista, global head of Quantitative Electronic Strategies (QUEST) trading.
Shing joins from Kepler Equities in Paris where, for seven years, he focused
on
sales to UK hedge funds and institutions. Prior to that, he held equity strategist roles at Schroder Securities and Goldman Sachs in London.
Shing will be running a sector-based proprietary book leveraging the bank's strength in equity derivatives.
BNP Paribas says the appointment reinforces its commitment to growing its equities and derivatives trading capacity globally. The appointment of Shing follows that of David Lonsdale and Alistair Philips, who have recently been hired to
strengthen
the
equity
financing
team in London, as well as Arnaud Neris and David Connor who have recently joined the global QUEST team.
"We're excited about Edmund joining the team," remarks Evangelista. "He has over ten years of experience in analysing the European equity markets, which will be invaluable in his trading role. BNP Paribas is the biggest market maker for futures on Eurex, a strength and knowledge base on which the team can capitalise," he continues.
