Ex-JP Morgan clearing boss joins Barclays as CFO

Former head of clearing at JP Morgan Emily Portney, will join Barclays following a spell at Visa.

JP Morgan’s former global head of clearing and collateral management, and GC legend, Emily Portney has become CFO of Barclays Corporate & International, The Trade understands.

Portney will assume her new role on 19 September and will report to group CFO Tushar Morzaria and deputy CEO at Barclays Corporate and International Joe Gould.

Portney joins Barclays from Visa where she was CFO of North America for a short time, after leaving JP Morgan back in February. She spent 22 years at JP Morgan having first joined the custodian bank in 1993.

In 2001 Portney joined the firm’s equities business eventually becoming CFO of equities and prime services.

In mid-2012 Portney led the newly created ACCE (agency clearing, collateral management and execution) business at JPM covering all client clearing across securities and derivatives, as well as the firm’s collateral management business.
