Northern Trust Capital Markets has hired an equities trading veteran for a senior role overseeing the firm’s brokerage services globally.
Glenn Poulter has more than 30 years’ experience working in financial services, having held senior positions at institutions such as Citigroup and ICAP, where he was head of European cash equities and CEO for equities respectively.
Poulter also spent two years as a director at consultancy firm Stratevolve, advising clients on the implications of MiFID II, and has been chairman of the operating committee at Schroder Securities.
At Northern Trust, Poulter will report to Guy Gibson who is currently head of institutional brokerage for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Asia-Pacific for the Capital Markets business.
“[Poulter’s] extensive knowledge on MiFID II and other financial regulations will be invaluable for clients across the globe as they navigate regulatory change and achieve the levels of transparency the markets seek,” Gibson commented.
Andy Clayton, head of Northern Trust Capital Markets EMEA, added that Poulter’s appointment reflects the importance that brokerage plays within the firm’s capital markets business.
