Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has launched its mainland market data hub in Shanghai. It represents HKEx’s first connectivity infrastructure in mainland China.
The hub offers client access to HKEx’s market data without having to maintain cross-border communication lines.
At the outset, the hub will provide five Chinese firms direct access to a market and index datafeed and an index feed under HKEx’s Orion market data platform. Other feeds may be introduced at a later date and that list of five clients will increase.
“The hub is part of the implementation of the Orion market data platform,” said Romnesh Lamba, HKEx’s head of global markets. “The next phase will cover implementation for HKEx’s derivatives market data and is tentatively scheduled for rollout in the second half of this year.”
