Investment Technology Group (ITG), a global agency brokerage and trading technology firm, has reshuffled its senior management following the departure of international CEO Alasdair Haynes.

Haynes, who is considered a candidate to replace Clara Furse as CEO of the London Stock Exchange, said: “After more than a decade at ITG, the time is now right for me to pursue a new direction. I worked alongside many talented and dedicated personnel and I wish them all continued success.”

Haynes’ former role as CEO of ITG’s international business will no longer exist, with responsibilities now shared between David Stevens, CEO of ITG Europe, and Leon Christianakis, the newly appointed CEO of ITG’s Asia-Pacific business. Both will now report to Bob Gasser, CEO and president of ITG.

Christianakis joins ITG from Deutsche Asset Management where he was global head of equity trading. He previously held senior positions at Voyager Funds Management, a hedge fund he co-founded, and Morgan Stanley. He is due to start at ITG at the end of March 2009.

“We are pleased to welcome Leon as head of ITG’s Asia Pacific business at a time of unprecedented change and growth in the region,” said Gasser. “Under Leon’s leadership, ITG will continue to invest in our Asia-Pacific operations and provide our clients with superior solutions and service to navigate the complex trading landscape.”
