Janus Henderson to acquire three investment businesses through Insignia Financial partnership

The deal is set to close in Q4 2026 and will expand the asset manager’s footprint in Australia, adding approximately $33 billion to the firm’s regional fixed income, broad-cap equities and small-cap equities offering.

Janus Henderson has partnered with wealth management provider Insignia Financial, in a move which will see the asset manager acquire three of the firm’s specialist investment management businesses.

Specifically, the transaction integrates Antares Fixed Income, Antares Equities and Fairview Equity Partners, and will add approximately $33 billion across Janus Henderson’s Australian fixed income, broad-cap equities and small-cap equities.

The addition of Fairview Equity Partners encompasses the acquisition of Insignia’s 40% stake, which will allow the firm to continue operating as an independent boutique small-cap manager.

The acquisition is expected to expand Janus Henderson’s current footprint and local investment capability in Australia, and makes the firm’s fixed interest team one of the largest dedicated fixed income offerings in the local market.

Ali Dibadj, chief executive of Janus Henderson, said: “We are excited to announce this partnership with Insignia, which significantly strengthens our presence in Australia and reflects our long-term commitment to a market of strategic importance for the firm.

“By combining the acquisition of established investment teams with a long-term partnership, we are able to deepen our relationship with a leading wealth manager and broaden the capabilities we provide to clients.”

The deal also marks an expansion of Janus Henderson and Insignia’s long-term strategic partnership, where the asset manager provides a range of global investment capabilities across Insignia’s investment solutions.

Insignia’s current client base spans both Insignia mandates and third-party institutional clients, as well as established retail investment strategies.

Garry Mulcahy, chief executive, asset management at Insignia Financial, added: “The combination of Janus Henderson’s global investment capabilities and the expertise of the Antares and Fairview teams creates a strong foundation for future growth in the Australian market. We have had a long association with Janus Henderson and look forward to continuing to work with such a high calibre global investment firm.”
