Liquidnet taps Soc Gen for head of trading

Liquidnet expands its global trading desk with new hires including Soc Gen’s former head of electronic trading in the US.

Societe Generale’s head of program and electronic trading in the US has departed to join Liquidnet as the firm expands its global equities trading desk.

Sunny Duggal has been appointed head of the trading desk and has more than 15 years experience in equities and ETFs, trading at major institutions including Goldman Sachs and RBS.

Geoff Benarick, a sales trader from Citigroup with more than 20 years experience, has also joined the global trading desk at Liquidnet in New York.

In Hong Kong, Liquidnet also appointed Enrica Leung, who has nine years trading experience at BNP Paribas, Macquarie and Barclays, as an execution trader.

Liquidnet said the expansion and new appointments were made to support its execution and block liquidity services across 45 equity markets.

“We recognise that our global clients need increased choice and control in today’s changing liquidity landscape,” said Rob Laible, Liquidnet’s global head of equity strategy.

“Our global trading desk is flexible by design: whether you want to interact with Liquidnet’s global $78 billion per day of natural block liquidity or more controlled access to multiple dark venues and lit markets.”

The global trading desk provides agency-only trading and includes Liquidnet’s targeted invitations, algo ranking model and course correction services.
