MUFG EU securities arm merges into MUFG Bank Europe

The merger brings together MUFG’s capital, infrastructure and teams in the EU, to support the firm’s long-term growth plans in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

MUFG has merged its EU securities and banking businesses into a single entity, MUFG Bank Europe.

Under the merger – effective from 1 November – MUFG Bank Europe will offer corporate and investment banking and global markets services.

Specifically, the move completes the setup of the group’s universal banking platform in the EU, first announced in January.

Hide Yamamura, regional chief executive of MUFG EMEA, said: “The EU is strategically important for MUFG in EMEA, which has a diverse client base and significant growth potential. Bringing together complementary capabilities, talent, and deep market expertise means we are better positioned to meet client needs and capture opportunities in the region.”

Pooling our capital, infrastructure and highly skilled teams, backed by the strength of our global network, we can serve clients more effectively and accelerate our EU growth ambitions.

“Europe’s investment and financing needs are increasing across the economy. With a stronger platform, we are well placed to help clients navigate this environment, contribute to society and continue building our European business.”

MUFG Bank Europe’s global markets division will be co-led by Anthony Larqué and Takeshi Kajie.
