NYSE Euronext named a new general counsel and group executive vice president last Thursday. John Halvey will take up the positions in early March. Halvey will also join the company’s management committee and be responsible for all NYSE Euronext legal activities, including the office of the corporate secretary and global risk and audit services, but excluding NYSE regulation.

Halvey will report to Duncan Niederauer, CEO. He will replace Rachel Robbins, who has decided to leave the company. The firm says Halvey has experience with a wide variety of international corporate transactions in the fields of information technology, business processes, private equity and joint ventures.

“My colleagues and I welcome Halvey to NYSE Euronext and look forward to working with him,” says Niederauer. “His experience in corporate, technology and transaction law will contribute greatly to our strategic objectives and global growth," he continues.

“During my time at NYSE Euronext, we transformed our business and created a global enterprise," comments Robbins. "We have an international governance process and a legal team that shares a common vision," she adds.
