Chilean investment bank LarrainVial is to offer direct market access connectivity to the Santiago Stock Exchange using an electronic trading platform built by NYSE Technologies, the commercial technology arm of exchange group NYSE Euronext.

LarrainVial, the highest-volume trader on the Santiago exchange, said the NYSE Technologies solution will combine hosting software with an integrated back-office platform that utilises NYSE’s Secure Financial Transaction Infrastructure network.

“We are excited to work with Chile’s leading capital markets firm on a truly ground-breaking project that further opens Chile, Peru, Colombia and Argentinean marketplaces to the global investors and puts the global markets within reach of investors from those countries,” said Stanley Young, CEO of NYSE Technologies. “We will be implementing a new breed of direct market access solutions unlike anything currently available in the region.”

“As we continue our international expansion in Latin America, US and Europe, Larrain Vial will work further with NYSE Euronext to build and expand this new platform giving us the ability to offer our customers inside and outside Latin America a robust, innovative trading solution for trading in our markets,” said Fernando Larrain, CEO of LarrainVial.
