Peel Hunt selects former Numis electronic and program trading head to lead division in similar role

Alongside the new electronic head, the investment bank has appointed a new senior sales trader to its electronic trading team also from Numis Securities.

UK-based investment bank Peel Hunt has appointed the former head of electronic and program trading and sales at Numis Securities to head up its own electronic trading division.

Nishad Vallonthaiel

Nishad Vallonthaiel has been appointed head of electronic and program trading at Peel Hunt. Prior to joining Numis, he also served at Bloomberg Tradebook, Execution, Canaccord, C.I.M Banque, Banca Commerciale, and Lugano Espirito Santo Investment Bank.

Also appointed to the electronic trading team at Peel Hunt alongside Vallonthaiel is Vinesh Chhaya, who joins the unit as a senior sales trader.

Chhaya joins the bank after also previously serving at Instinet, Liquidnet, HAITONG, Canaccord Genuity and Numis Securities.

“They will be instrumental in expanding our institutional electronic trading capability and our newly formed Electronic Trading Product Hub,” said Peel Hunt in a statement.

The TRADE reported in April that Numis had shuttered its low touch electronic trading desk after concluding the unit was not part of its core business.

In the same week, Deutsche Bank confirmed it was set to acquire institutional broker Numis for £410 million, according to documents seen by The TRADE.
