PLUS Markets, a UK stock exchange specialising in small- and

mid-cap stocks, has appointed Ian-Patrick Lauder as its new head of trading services. He replaces Stuart Rutherford, who has left to join pan-European multilateral trading facility Nasdaq OMX Europe as head of sales.

Lauder joined PLUS in 2008 as head of business development for PLUS Real Time Products, the exchange’s retail data distribution offering. In his new role, Lauder will be responsible for PLUS’s execution offering to its trading members. He will manage PLUS’s relationships with current and prospective broker and market-maker customers.

PLUS is rolling out a number of new trading products, including its PLUS-pool non-displayed order book for small- and mid-cap stocks and the PLUS HQ hittable quotes board, which will allow institutional orders to interact with retail flow in large-cap stocks traded on PLUS. While PLUS predominantly trades small- and mid-cap stocks, it attracts high trading volumes in large-cap stocks that have a lot of retail interest, such as high-street banks, when significant news or events affects these firms.

“We look forward to Ian’s invaluable contribution in advancing our market offering as we roll out our dark order book, PLUS-pool, in the small- and mid-caps and look to further enhance our trading services product set,” said Cyril Theret, business development director at PLUS, in a statement.
