Interdealer-broker ICAP is donating 100% of its commissions generated today to good causes as part of its 23rd annual Charity Day.

This year, the event will be attended by their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to support several UK charities of which they are patrons. Other big names attending the event include His Royal Highness Prince Harry, Simon Cowell, Dame Helen Mirren and Samantha Cameron. A total of 13 UK charities are being supported by this year’s Charity Day.

Since it launched the initiative, which this year will see over 200 charities benefit from commissions generated by ICAP worldwide, the firm has raised more than £120 million for over 1,800 causes. Last year’s event saw a total of £8 million raised across more than 60 ICAP offices globally.

Michael Spencer, Group Chief Executive Officer of ICAP, said: “This year is ICAP’s 23rd annual Charity Day. From our modest beginnings in 1993 when we had 100 employees, this event has grown to become a truly global fundraising event, of which we are extremely proud. This year, we will be supporting a further 200 extraordinary charities, all of whom are in need of funds to develop vital, life-changing projects which will make a difference to thousands of lives. We are dedicated to raising as much as we can for our charities on 9 December and are extremely grateful to our employees, customers and suppliers for their ongoing and generous support.
