Russian bourse RTS Stock Exchange has opened a representative office in the UK in a bid to attract more international members to its exchange.

The new office, which was officially opened on 13 April, will be led by Ekaterina Troshinkina, who has been appointed head of RTS Exchange Europe. Troshinkina joined RTS from a division of publishing firm The McGraw-Hill Companies in Russia.

According to RTS, the key functions of the new entity will be to promote the products and services it offers to international investors looking to invest in the Russian securities network.

“We see attracting foreign investors to the Russian market as one of our key priorities,” said Roman Goryunov, CEO of RTS Stock Exchange, in a statement. “Global players will help the Russian securities market pick up liquidity and increase its importance on the international level.”

“We are pleased to extend our partnership with RTS in London as we continue to offer our international accounts access to index futures,” added Anis Akl, managing director of equity derivatives trading at Credit Suisse.
