Stifel equity trader joins Velocity Trade

Sydney-based hire also previously spent more than seven years at Hargreaves Lansdown, where he was promoted to market dealer.

Velocity Trade has expanded its APAC equities desk, with the appointment of Freddie Dolcezza.

Dolcezza joins the firm as an equity trader and most recently spent two years at Stifel in London, where he held the same position.

He confirmed the move in a social media announcement.

“After two years as part of the UK corporate and small-cap market making team at Stifel, I decided it was time for a change of scenery and made the move from the UK to Sydney,” he said.

“Really pleased to have now joined the APAC equities desk at Velocity Trade. It’s a great opportunity and one I’m looking forward to getting stuck into.”

Before Stifel, Dolcezza spent more than seven years at Hargreaves Lansdown in Bristol.

He joined the firm in 2017 as a client support agent and became an equity dealer in 2019. He was later promoted to market dealer, a role he held for three and a half years.

Stifel confirmed last year that it was shuttering its UK-based equities trading business as it shifts its focus toward becoming an advisory-led business in Europe, with capital raising capabilities for mid-market issuers.

The exit was expected to bring potential job cuts, with staff informed of the closure of Stifel’s UK equities trading offering on 1 December 2025, sources close to the matter previously told The TRADE.

Velocity Trade had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.
