Swiss brokerage appoints first ever global trading boss

Mirabaud Securities has hired Jason Rand as its new head of global electronic trading.

Mirabaud Securities has confirmed the appointment of its new head of global electronic trading who joined from Convergex.

Jason Rand joins the brokerage and corporate finance arm of Mirabaud from Convergex where he served as head of global trading, based in London.

Rand started his career at Eze Software as a connectivity consultant in 2007, before becoming head of Asia-Pacific trading at G-Trade.  He left G-Trade to join Convergex in November 2011.

In this newly created role, Rand is overseeing the development and expansion of electronic trading across the EMEA, Asia, and American regions.

Rand will service and execute on behalf of US and European clients, trading across more than 70 markets into EMEA and the Asia Pacific.

Nicolas Tissot, chief executive officer of Mirabaud Securities, said Rand has an exceptional track record.

He added: “We have significant ambitions for this sector and I am certain that our new offering will go from strength to strength under his leadership.”

Mirabaud Securities, the brokerage and corporate finance arm of Swiss bank Mirabaud, acquired its London operations in 1990.

It joined the London Stock Exchange in 1995.
