People Moves Monday: Goldman Sachs AM, Citi and Kepler Cheuvreux

The past week saw a steady stream of hires across trading and execution desks, including a buy-side global head of trading, as well as two senior appointments and a high touch trader hire.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management

Jatin Vara has joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management as global head of trading, six months after departing from BlackRock, as revealed by The TRADE.

London-based Vara began his new position in May 2026.

Previously, Vara had served at BlackRock for 27 years and held several senior roles, most recently as co-head global trading alongside Daniel Veiner, who was named head of markets at the firm in July 2025.

Vara stepped into the global trading role following Supurna Vedbrat’s departure in January 2023, after being promoted from his previous position leading international and emerging markets trading.

Citi

Citi has made two new hires to its EMEA futures execution team, appointing Benjamin Benson and Ranald Falconer as directors.

Benson and Falconer’s appointments are set to support the expansion of Citi’s multi-asset trading franchise.

Both are set to assume responsibility for global cross-asset futures sales and trading in their new roles, spanning Citi’s global client base.

Benson brings more than 17 years of industry experience to his new position, and joins following a stint at UBS, where he served as a rates ETD executive director for almost four years.

He also previously held senior roles at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

Kepler Cheuvreux

Kepler Cheuvreux is continuing its influx of hires to its KCx team, appointing Michael Massimino as a high touch trader in New York.

Massimino brings more than two decades of trading experience to his new role, where he is set to support the expansion and development of Kepler Cheuvreux’s execution strategy.

Speaking to The TRADE, Chris McConville, global head of execution services and trading commented: “The US is a key market in our long-term growth strategy, and we are pleased to welcome [Massimino] to our New York team.”

Prior to joining KCx, Massimino served as a managing director in institutional equity trading at investment bank Imperial Capital, a role he held for more than 13 years.

He has also worked across institutional sales and trading at firms including WJB Capital and Leerink Swann & Company.
