M&G Investments’ global head of dealing and implementation, Brian Mitchell, received The TRADE’s Lifetime Achievement Award last night at Leaders in Trading 2026.
Upon collecting his award, Mitchell reflected on his career in the industry, thanking the colleagues and peers who have supported him, while sharing his thoughts on what lies ahead for financial markets.
Industry stalwart Mitchell received numerous nominations from his peers and across the industry for the award – particularly from the buy-side.
The award recognises his impressive four-decade long career so far, which saw him starting out at Morgan Grenfell Asset Management and Robert Fleming, where he secured his industry foundations in operations, before later moving into dealing – an area where he is arguably an expert.
This step up saw him moving into a role at Baring Asset Management, where he ended up serving as global head of dealing and portfolio control, assuming responsibility for multi-asset trading and TCA teams across London, Boston, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
Mitchell later spent four years at Fidelity International as deputy COO and director of the investment platform within its multi-asset business, before joining M&G Investments in 2017.
He was made global head of dealing and implementation in 2020, and since then, has built out three regional dealing desks, leading teams across London, Chicago and Singapore and overseeing a broad range of trading and specialist functions.
Throughout his journey, Mitchell has continuously been a testament to true innovation, ambition, leadership and markets integrity.
His path is one of genuine success and reflects the importance of those not only willing to adapt to change, but willing to make it happen through exceptional leadership and expertise.
