Auerbach Grayson, a New York-based brokerage firm that deals with international trading for U.S. institutional investors, has promoted Charlie Gushee, a 23-year industry veteran, to executive vice president and head of the firm’s Western European equities desk.

In his new role, Mr. Gushee, 46, will supervise Auerbach Grayson’s sales desk that handles research sales for the firm’s coverage of the Western European region. His responsibilities will include managing relationships between the firm’s Western European brokerage partners and its U.S. institutional investor clients. Mr. Gushee will also oversee the recruitment of sales staff on the Western European equities desk.

“We are delighted to have Charlie direct operations for our Western European equities business,” says David Grayson, managing director and co-founder of Auerbach Grayson. “His extensive knowledge of the region and several years of developing relationships with both Western European brokerages and U.S. institutions make him the ideal candidate to expand our established business in this area of the world.”

Mr. Gushee joined Auerbach Grayson in May 2006 as the vice president of Western European equities. Prior to joining the firm, he was vice president of European equities at Kepler Equities, a New York-based niche European brokerage, where he was the senior sales person on the firm’s European equities desk. Earlier, Mr. Gushee served as director of European equities for SG Cowen Securities in New York, where he worked from 1992 until 2001.

Gushee has also served as a business English instructor for the Peace Corps at ISCAE, a business school in Casablanca, Morocco, from 1988 until 1990 before returning to the U.S. to receive his MBA from Columbia Business School in 1992.
