Eugene Iwami, who has been running Japanese equities trading at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML), has been appointed head of Japan equities according to an internal memo that we have seen.
He will report to Olivier Thiriet, the head of Asia Pacific equities, and to Jiro Seguchi, BAML’s country executive for Japan.
He will continue to run Japan equities trading, where he still reports to Arnaud Droitcourt, the head of Asia Pacific equities trading.
Former co-head of Japanese equities, Paddy Hogan, is returning to the USA, where he will handle US Japan sales and also be involved in building financing revenues from US clients that are active in Japan.
The other former co-head, Hiroyuki Kaneda, has been appointed to the newly created role of vice chairman of Japan equities, tasked with growing BAML’s domestic client business. He will also reports to Thiriet and Seguchi.
