Cowen expands prime brokerage team with two buy-side hires

Two buy-siders will join Cowen’s global capital introduction team which services its prime brokerage and outsourced trading clients.

Cowen has expanded its capital introduction team with the appointment of two buy-siders from hedge fund Bright Stream Capital Management and PNC Asset Management.

Amy Cheung joins Cowen as vice president based in Hong Kong covering Asia Pacific from hedge fund Bright Stream Capital Management where she worked in investor relations and business development for three years.

Alongside Cheung, Daniel McGlinn has also been appointed as vice president in Cowen’s capital introduction team after six years with PNC Asset Management as a member of the alternative strategies team responsible for external manager selection.

With the new additions, Cowen said its global capital introduction team, which provides prime brokerage and outsourced trading services to emerging fund managers, now comprises of eight individuals with further new hires planned in the next two years.

“Amy and Daniel both have extensive buy-side experience and are strong additions to our growing team,” said Brett Yarkon, managing director and head of capital introduction at Cowen.

“Having a local presence in Hong Kong to capitalise on further opportunities in Asia, as well as team members on the ground across the US and in London, is a significant benefit for our team as we continue to extend our global coverage and take our cap Intro business to the next level.”

The firm has made three senior new hires into its outsourced trading business in 2021 to date as it continues to expand its client offering.

In January, it appointed MUFG veteran Joram Siegel to head up fixed income outsourced trading, later appointing Vincent Governara and Chris Taliercio to the fixed income team, reporting to Siegel.
