Digital Asset has raised $355 million in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz’s crypto fund (a16z crypto), as it seeks to further develop the Canton Network as infrastructure for regulated financial markets.
The round included participation from a broad group of investors across traditional finance and digital asset markets, including HSBC, BNP Paribas, Citadel Securities, CME Ventures, Broadridge, Coinbase Ventures, S&P Global, SBI Group, Tradeweb, ABN AMRO, Apollo Funds, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, among others.
Digital Asset said the capital will support the continued development of the Canton Network, including expansion of its ecosystem, deeper engagement with financial institutions and developers, and further onboarding of assets and regulated workflows onto the platform.
Ali Yahya, general partner at a16z crypto, said: “One of the most compelling blockchain opportunities is no longer theoretical; it is emerging as real-world assets and institutional workflows move onchain. Digital Asset has built one of the clearest examples of blockchain product-market fit in regulated finance. We believe that Digital Asset is building foundational infrastructure for the next generation of financial markets.”
Canton is designed to allow institutions to operate on shared blockchain infrastructure while maintaining the privacy and permissions required in regulated financial environments, a balance that remains central to institutional adoption of distributed ledger technology.
Yuval Rooz, co-founder and chief executive of Digital Asset, said: “Blockchain adoption will be defined by practical, production-grade applications in the world’s largest markets. For capital markets to move on-chain, institutions need infrastructure that reflects how they actually operate – with privacy, compliance, scale, and interoperability built in from the start.
“Canton was purpose-built for this, and Digital Asset is working with more than 700 ecosystem participants to make Canton the core infrastructure for global finance. This investment brings additional expertise, reach, and ecosystem support at an important moment for both Digital Asset and Canton’s growth.”
The latest round also formalises an ongoing relationship with a16z crypto, which is expected to contribute across areas including company development and ecosystem scaling as the network expands.
