FIX Protocol (FPL), the developer of the FIX financial messaging standard, has appointed new regional directors for EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Edward Mangles, founder and publisher of FIXGlobal, the official FPL publication, will take the role of FPL Asia-Pacific regional director, while Stuart Adams has been appointed as regional director for EMEA.

Both Mangles and Adams will be responsible for establishing contact with execution venues around the world and educating them about the latest versions and new technologies released by FPL. In addition, they will work towards helping international regulators understand the benefits of FIX as a tool to help achieve greater market efficiency.

Adams has worked in financial technology for 20 years, most recently as head of European operations at trading systems provider Portware, where he was responsible for setting up the firm’s London office and developing senior industry relationships to establish the business in Europe. He has also held positions at US trading platform Brut ECN and Instinet Global Services, a division of agency broker Instinet.

“At a time where cost savings and achieving technical efficiencies matter more than ever, I look forward to ensuring the benefits and latest developments offered by the FIX Protocol are clearly understood by the industry to make sure that firms are kept at the forefront of technological innovation,” said Adams in a statement.

As well as his involvement with FIXGlobal, Mangles has also worked for leading financial publishing and marketing firms in both London and Hong Kong.

“This position will allow me to develop stronger relationships with not only the buy-side, sell-side and vendor community, but also the region’s regulators and trading venues to ensure that FIX adoption is seen as fundamental to increasing efficiencies across their respective markets,” said Mangles.
